The school is situated close to the city centre and railway station. There is a vocational school in the direct vicinity, as well as a square used for city festivals and the municipal sports centre. Due to its proximity to the railway station, the school's catchment area extends across the entire administrative district and neighbouring districts.

One dedicated teacher trained to act as "A World of Difference" (AWoD ) coach.

"AWoD" exercises are either employed during classes with that teacher or during project week.
» Methods and strategies in implementation
| The "AWoD" exercises are game-like exercises in which pupils reflect on themselves as individuals and introduce themselves to others. This emphasises the variety of appearance of individuals, which through further tutoring is supposed to be appreciated, in order to achieve greater tolerance and thoughtfulness about one's own understanding of diversity. |
3. Development of the activity
» Reasons why the activity (activities) was/were carried out?
One teacher at the school, funded by the Niedersachsen government, was trained as a coach for the "A World of Difference" programme and can now offer "AWoD" exercises. Currently, the school has not identified any forms of discrimination at the school. Carrying out the "AWoD" programme is considered an element towards preventing discrimination.

The aim of the "AWoD" programme is to prevent prejudice and discrimination from developing in young people.

Pupils admit that the exercises have made them think about their own attitudes towards other groups.
